Tour Down Under 2019: Richie Porte y Daryl Impey ganan en Willunga Hill (Vídeos)

Daryl Impey (1984, Mitchelton-Scott) se ha proclamado vencedor final del Santos Tour Down Under (2.UWT, Australia) por segundo año consecutivo, mientras que Richie Porte (1985, Trek-Segafredo) ha repetido también victoria en la cima de Willunga Hill por sexta vez consecutiva.
Las bonificaciones han vuelto a ser decisivas y gracias a ellas Impey, 34 años, se ha alzado con el triunfo, descartado el líder Patrick Bevin (CCC Team), a casi seis minutos lastrado por su caída del sábado.
Porte repetía el guion, ataque a 1,3 kilómetros y se quedaba solo a 600 metros, si bien Poels (Team Sky) y sobre todo Impey le mantenían a la vista, y alzaba los brazos en la cima donde ha reina desde 2014.
Llegada:
El maillot ocre, sin embargo, se le escapaba una vez más a Porte y repetía el segundo puesto en el podio como en 2018, 2016 y 2015, cuatro veces, vencedor en 2017. La gloria era para Impey, por 13″, con Poels tercero a 17″. Luis León Sánchez, quinto en la etapa, se quedaba cuarto en la clasificación general, a 2″ del neerlandés y del cajón.
De Gendt (Lotto Soudal), White (UniSA-Australia), Dowsett (Katusha Alpecin), Van Poppel (Jumbo-Visma), Pöstlberger (Bora-Hansgrohe), Bagdonas (AG2R La Mondiale) y Sütterlin (Movistar Team), formaban la fuga del día. Entre los ascensos a Willunga Hill, probaban suerte Carretero (Movistar Team), Marczynski (Lotto-Soudal) y Oss (Bora-hansgrohe), cazados a seis de meta.
