Lorenzo Fortunato (1996, Eolo-Kometa) ha vencido en la 14ª etapa del Giro de Italia (2.UWT), de 205 kilómetros desde Cittadella hasta el Monte Zoncolan. Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) ha vuelto a ser el mejor de los favoritos y es más rosa.

Ponomar (Androni), Tratnik (Bahrain), Rochas (Cofidis), Albanese y Fortunato (Eolo), Bennett y Affini (Jumbo-Visma), Oliveira (Movistar Team), Mollema y Mosca (Trek-Segafredo) y Covi (UAE) han sido los 11 escapados del día.

Sorprendentemente, Fortunato y Tratnik han sido los más fuertes en la fuga y la victoria ha sido para el italiano, una enorme victoria para el Eolo-Kometa de Ivan Basso y Alberto Contador. Entre los favoritos, Simon Yates (Ineos) atacaba y solo Bernal aguantaba a su rueda. El colombiano tenía una marcha más y volvía a marcar la diferencia. Por el contrario, Vlasov y Evenepoel eran los que más cedían.

En la clasificación general, Bernal es más líder; Simon Yates es segundo, a 1:33; y el podio está en juego, con Caruso, a 1:51, Vlasov, a 1:57, y Carthy, a 2:11.

El domingo la carrera entra en Eslovenia, 147 kilómetros desde Grado hasta Gorizia, con tres cotas de Cuarta, a la espera de la gran etapa del lunes, con Fedaia, Pordoi y Giau.
