Etoile Bessèges: Ben O’Connor remata otra fuga en la etapa reina

Ben O’Connor (1995, NTT Pro Cycling) ha ganado desde la escapada la cuarta etapa de la Etoile de Bessèges (2.1, Francia), Le Pont du Gard-Le Mont Bouquet, 138,7 kilómetros. Benoît Cosnefroy (1995, Ag2r La Mondiale) es el nuevo líder.

Claeys (Cofidis), Clarke (EF Pro Cycling), Malecki (CCC Team), O’Connor (NTT Pro Cycling), Cam (B&B Hôtels-Vital Concept), Taminiaux (Bingoal-Wallonie-Bruxelles) y Jose Gonçalves (Nippo Delko One Provence) han formado la fuga de la jornada, que, al igual que ayer, ha podido llegar a meta por delante del pelotón.

En la subida final, de 4,6 km al 9,1%, O´Connor hizo gala de sus dotes escaladoras y superó a Clarke y Malecki, los otros dos supervivientes de la fuga. Desde el pelotón, se libró la batalla por la clasificación general, en la que Benoît Cosnefroy (Ag2r La Mondiale), quinto en la etapa, distanció al hasta ahora líder Alexys Brunel (Groupama – FDJ) para hacerse con el maillot de líder.

El Equipo Kern Pharma volvió a mostrarse competitivo a nivel internacional, con una décima plaza en la etapa y provisionalmente en la general del colombiano Daniel Méndez, con solo 19 años.

La ronda gala se decide el domingo en la contrarreloj individual de 10,7 kilómetros con final en el muro de Alés, 2,9 kilómetros al 5,3%. Cosnefroy deberá defender 24 segundos de ventaja respecto a Brunel.
