Vuelta a Andalucía: Tim Wellens vence a Landa en Alcalá (vídeo)

Tim Wellens ha ganado la cuarta etapa de la Vuelta a Andalucía, con salida en Sevilla y final en el muro adoquinado de Alcalá de los Gazules. El belga de Lotto-Soudal se coloca, además, como líder de la carrera.

Landa ha lanzado un duro ataque desde la base del muro final gaditano que sólo Tim Wellens ha sido capaz de responder. Incluso el alavés ha estado a puntito de soltar al belga, pero justo le ha llegado un descanso a 500 metros de meta. Después, Wellens ha aprovechado para recuperar aire, medir distancias y lanzar el hachazo final.

Movistar ha querido desgastar a los rivales antes del muro final, y para eso ha mandado por delante a Andrey Amador, que desde el pelotón ha conseguido entrar en la fuga primero, y romperla después, para marcharse con Sep Vanmarcke en solitario. Ambos llegaron a tener tres minutos, pero Sky y Astana han puesto pie en pared, bajando la distancia antes de la aproximación a Alcalá y cazándolos en la primera rampa dura.

El gran perjudicado del día ha sido Chris Froome, que ha sufrido un pinchazo justo en el peor momento posible. Dentro de los últimos cinco kilómetros, con la carrera ya completamente lanzada hacia la subida final. Froome no ha podido volver al pelotón y queda eliminado de la general.

Una general a la que todavía puede ganar cualquiera de los cinco primeros. Desde Wellens hasta Luis León Sánchez hay 20 segundos, y los ciclistas que hay en medio son bastante parejos en la lucha contra el crono. Wout Poels ha perdido hoy el maillot rojo, pero aunque no ha tenido piernas para el ataque de Landa sí que ha podido minimizar las pérdidas posteriormente. Ahora es tercero a 11″ del belga.

Este domingo se terminará de definir la carrera en una contrarreloj decisiva y también innovadora: serán 14,2 kilómetros de recorrido con seis de ellos sobre superficie de tierra y en ligero ascenso. La parte final, ya de nuevo sobre asfalto, será siempre en terreno favorable. Los favoritos están en un pañuelo así que todo está en el aire.
