Kern Pharma brilla en Italia: «Hemos jugado a ganar»

Este sábado, el número de los corredores del Equipo Kern Pharma en la etapa reina del Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia fue digno de ciclistas sobresalientes. Cuarto fue Roger Adrià en meta y séptimo Urko Berrade.

Leknessund (UNO) demostró ser el mejor escalador de la carrera y se distanció de sus rivales en la primera de las dos subidas de primera categoría. Por detrás, el pelotón se seleccionó y Roger Adrià y Urko Berrade se filtraron en el grupo de los mejores. El catalán reguló sus fuerzas, perdió unos metros con el grupo de favoritos que logró recuperar y, en una zona de repechos previa al descenso del último puerto de la jornada, demarró en busca de la victoria.

A la caza del catalán salió Hellemose (VCM) y juntos comenzaron el descenso. Por detrás Urko Berrade fue el más hábil en la zona técnica y enlazó con los dos corredores que perseguían a la cabeza de la carrera. Entre los tres colaboraron y redujeron su pérdida, pero no lograron dar caza a Leknessund (UNO).

Roger Adrià relató en primera persona la jornada de este sábado. “Hemos intentado hacer camino para dar caza al corredor escapado pero no ha sido posible. Hemos ido muy fuerte para intentar echarle mano. Cuando nos han cogido por detrás, he jugado mis cartas para colocarme en plazas de podio. Mañana dan agua e intentaremos hacer una carrera nerviosa para tener opciones de seguir escalando puestos en la general”, añadió el barcelonés.

Por su parte, el director deportivo del Equipo Kern Pharma Juanjo Oroz, recalcó que el papel de sus cinco hombres fue “realmente bueno. Kiko Galván ha llevado muy bien posicionados a nuestros líderes durante todo el llano y Martí Márquez y Jaime Castrillo han hecho que la carrera fuese rápida como teníamos pensado. Estamos orgullosos de poder estar adelante en una carrera de tantísimo nivel. Hemos jugado a ganar y hay que reconocer que el ganador es un gran ciclista. Nos ha faltado definir mejor, pero mañana tenemos una jornada de ciclismo con mayúsculas por delante”, finalizó el director de Pamplona.
