Tim Wellens (1991, Lotto Soudal) ha ganado la cuarta etapa del BinckBank Tour (2.UWT), disputada en la región de las Ardenas. El belga ha reinado en los 96 accidentados kilómetros con salida y llegada en Houffalize y es el nuevo líder de la general.
Iljo Keisse (Deceuninck Quick-Step) y Stan Dewulf (Lotto Soudal) han sido los primeros valientes de una etapa corta, pero muy animada. Posteriormente, Laurens De Plus (Team Jumbo Visma), Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal), Marc Hirschi (Team Sunweb) y el asturiano Iván Garcia Cortina (Bahrain Merida) forzaron el corte decisivo. Cortina no pudo seguir el ritmo de sus compañeros de grupo, que se jugaron la victoria al sprint, y llegó a meta en el grupo perseguidor.
De esta manera, Tim Wellens encarrila la clasificación general de un BinckBank Tour que ya ha ganado en dos ocasiones (2014 y 2015).
Mañana, vuelve el turno para los velocistas, con 191 kilómetros llanos entre Riemst y Venray.
